Hi! My name is Codie and I’m the Pawsonality of the Month because I’m a maverick. I know that in an election year lots of folks are trying to tell you that they are mavericks, but I am the real deal, because even though I’m a dog, I don’t much like other dogs. I like cats! The problem with other dogs is that they like to get in your face and try to push you around. This is especially true of those irritating little puppies. When that happens, I get annoyed and sometimes a fight breaks out. But cats are different. They are soft and plushy and never try to be top dog. They’re my friends.
I have other quirky, maverick-like qualities too. For instance, even though I am a collie, I hardly ever bark. I have found that other collies are always trying to get in the last word. Not me, I’m the strong silent type. And for treats, instead of dog bones or people food, I like tasty fruits and vegetables. I’m a healthy maverick. And speaking of healthy, I love to go for walks on my leash. I prance along, showing everyone what a big, cheerful guy I am. When my foster mom and I meet new people, I’m a little distant at first. It’s not that I don’t want to be friends, it’s just that we mavericks are picky about who we pal around with. As soon as I get to know you, I get very friendly. I particularly like it when people scratch and pet me. If you stop, I’ll give you a nudge with my long collie nose to remind you that I’m not finished yet. Well, that’s about it.
