Description: Believe it or not, this handsome boy was a phone call away from being shot! When Dancer showed up as a stray at a home on the Red Lake Indian Reservation, the husband wanted him gone. He told his wife to have her brother come over and shoot him. Instead, she called Red Lake Rosie’s Rescue (RLRR) and someone from the group came and picked up Dancer. In record time, Dancer was transferred to Minnesota Wisconsin Collie Rescue and was living the high life in his loving foster home.

Since coming to MWCR, Dancer has been fully vetted and neutered. The vet believes he is between two and four years old, and although he tested positive for Lyme disease, he is receiving antibiotics and will have no residual effects. He shows no symptoms and is a happy, otherwise healthy, collie boy.

This sweet guy gets along with everyone. He loves both children and adults and has a great time playing with the other dogs in the snow. He ignores the resident cats which is just how the cats like it! Not surprisingly for a dog named Dancer, he seems to have something of a shoe fetish and though he hasn’t damaged any shoes, he loves to carry one around in his mouth. He is fully housebroken, rarely barks and knows the “sit” and “down” commands. If given the chance he will explore the trash for any tasty treats that might be there, so his foster mom crates him when no one is home. He is extraordinarily affectionate and wants to be near his people at all times, always ready for a little petting and a tummy rub.

Dancer is a true Christmas miracle. Lost, frightened and hungry, he was spared by the kindness of a woman who called rescue rather than see him shot. He was saved by the dedication of someone at RLRR who immediately picked him up and contacted MWCR. He was brought to a loving foster home by another volunteer who transported him. In a matter of days, Dancer was transformed from a nameless, homeless stray to a loving and much loved family member. The last step for Dancer will be the move to his forever home where he will bring a lifetime of joy and love to his new family.
