Description: Danny is one highly educated collie! Some dogs know a few commands; some dogs know several commands; but Danny’s vocabulary includes “sit,” “down.” high five,” “come,” “no,” “off,” “swing,” “wait,” “settle,” “stay,” “ get it,” “heel,” “go play,” “go potty” and some agility commands. He came to MWCR from a loving family who had obviously spent lots of time training and loving Danny and helping him grow into a well socialized collie boy. He was trained as a 4H demo dog and also took obedience classes. Sadly, personal circumstances forced them to surrender Danny and now this Rhodes Scholar of collies is looking for a forever home.

Danny is as handsome as he is smart. He is a very striking, sable headed, white collie with a sweet and loving expression. He likes to go for walks and never fails to turn heads as he cheerfully prances along on his leash.

Danny experienced a trauma to one eye when he was younger and that has resulted in some diminished vision in that eye. Though this does not affect his normal activity, it may be the cause of his fear of uncarpeted, open back stairs.

Danny is a well behaved boy who is housetrained and whose foster mom has never felt the need to crate him. He is fairly quiet (for a collie) though he will bark at strangers and unfamiliar noises. He loves to be groomed, and can’t wait to get started when his foster mom picks up the brush. Folks familiar with the grooming needs of long haired dogs will appreciate what a benefit this is.

Danny gets along beautifully with virtually everyone. He is friendly and gentle with both dogs and cats, but he is particularly good with children. Since coming to his foster home he has been exposed to many, many children and has been sweet tempered and gentle in every case. Kids love Danny and Danny loves them right back.

The ideal, forever home for Danny would be an active one that would include him in their daily activities. He would love to have a fenced yard (if possible) and the opportunity to play with other dogs or with children. He is such a fun loving, affectionate boy that he could easily adapt to any situation where he could be part of action. Unlike so many highly educated people, Danny is no ivory tower intellectual. This smart guy just wants to be part of the family!
