Description:
Pretty little Kait is the victim of a military deployment. She had lived with one person since she was an eight week old pup, but when her owner was deployed and couldn’t take her along, Kait found herself looking for a new home.
Kait has always lived as an outdoor dog, but she has taken to the indoor lifestyle like a duck to water. She has had no accidents in the house, handles stairs like a pro, isn’t afraid of ordinary household noises and is not destructive. She is being fostered on a farm and though she is not fenced or tied when outdoors, she stays close to home. She is afraid of the horses and does not try to herd them. She loves to patrol her yard and occasionally finds it necessary to give the cows a piece of her mind, but she is generally a pretty quiet collie girl, only barking when someone new arrives or when the other dogs get her started.
Kait’s foster home includes two small dogs and when she tries to play with them, they are somewhat intimidated by her size and enthusiasm. She would love, however, to have another large dog to play with. There is also a cat at Kait’s foster home and though she hasn’t hurt it, she tries to chase and shake the cat, so her forever home should probably feline free.
At 80 pounds, Kait is a large, healthy, athletic girl who looks and acts more like a three year old than an eight year old. In spite of her size she is excellent with children – even those as young as one year old. At her foster home she has been exposed to children ages four and one, and was very gentle and tolerant around them. Even when the youngest pulled her fur, Kait didn’t “bat an eye.”
Kait is a happy, friendly collie who loves everyone she meets. She knows a variety of commands including “sit,” “come,” “get down,” and her personal favorite “kiss.” She loves to go for car rides, but appears to have never been on a leash and doesn’t know what to do. Like many dogs, she is very afraid of thunder storms.
Kait will be a wonderful addition to almost any home. She is a sweet, affectionate girl who solicits love by putting her nose under your hand to encourage some extra petting. She would very much enjoy having children or another larger dog to play with. In an urban setting she would probably need a fenced yard, since she has lived her entire life on a farm and is unfamiliar city sights and sounds. In a more rural area she would definitely not need a fence, because she is very good about staying close to home. Kait is looking for a loving, forever family to fill the void left when the only owner she had ever known went off to serve his country.
