Description: Leah is a beautiful, sable and white, smooth coated, collie girl. She is still a puppy at only seven months and is both playful and extremely loving. Her foster mom is a groomer and says that Leah behaved beautifully during her grooming session, even tolerating a nail trim without any complaint. As a smooth coated collie, Leah will be much easier to maintain than her rough coated counterparts, not requiring as much of the frequent brushing that they need.

Leah is currently living with several other dogs and two young children. She gets along beautifully with the dogs and has lots of fun playing with them. She truly loves the children (ages four and eight) and especially likes to snuggle with them and give kisses. Of course, she still has lots of puppy energy and sometimes jumps up on people, but her foster family is working with her and she is getting better about controlling her enthusiasm. So far she has been fed separately from the other dogs, but she has shown no sign of food aggression and probably would not need to be separated once she settled into her environment.

Leah came to MWCR after being returned to a shelter because of housebreaking issues, but she has had absolutely no accidents in her foster home. Of course she is still a young girl and her foster mom watches her closely and takes her out frequently. When she is left alone, Leah stays in her crate and has been accident free. At night she sleeps by her foster mom and has been as good as gold.

Leah is working on her leash-walking skills and is also learning that the tasty treats left on countertops are not there for her. She will need a home with a fenced yard, since she is inclined to run if not confined. Leah’s foster mom is helping her to improve her behavior around cats and though she is not dangerous to them, she is a bit too playful to be a favorite with the resident felines.

Leah is a loving, playful, cuddly girl who is looking for a forever home that will continue her education and help to refine her manners. Like all young dogs, she would benefit from a basic puppy class that would also help to create a wonderful bond with her new family. Leah is such a sweet, affectionate girl that she will fit beautifully into almost any home and will bring a lifetime of love to her new family.
