Description:
Is your home in need of a social director? If so, have we got the collie for you! Nala is a five year old, mahogany sable collie whose energy and playful enthusiasm make her seem much younger. She came to MWCR from a shelter after having been found as a stray so we don’t know the details of her past life, or even her exact age, but we do know that Nala loves other dogs and is always ready to start a game. At her foster home there are four other dogs and since arriving Nala has taught her foster family’s rescued mini Aussie how to play with toys and enjoy a good wrestling match. If the other dogs aren’t playing, she will work hard to get a game going and keep it going for as long as possible. Here is a video showing Nala in action with her foster family’s other dogs.
Although she is playful, Nala is usually a quiet collie who only barks in the house when she is in the midst of a game with the other dogs. Outdoors she does like to lecture the horses from time to time and would love to herd them, though she doesn’t harass them. She is fully house trained and is given the run of the house when her foster family goes out. She knows “sit” and “down” and is working on her recall. Nala rides well in the car and is well behaved on a leash. She has shown no desire to wander away from her property, though in an urban setting she would probably need a fence for her own safety. The fact that she was found as a stray reinforces the notion that a fenced yard would be very desirable.
Nala is very good with children and follows her foster mom’s four year old grandchild around like a mother hen. She is fine with strangers and gets along equally well with both men and women. She has not been exposed to cats, so it is not known how she would react to them. Of course she loves other dogs.
Nala is looking for an active forever family that will appreciate her happy nature and playful energy. It would be great if her family included children who would play with her or another young, energetic dog. So, if you are looking to bring some fun into your life, don’t let this cheerful little social butterfly get away!
