Post-Adoption Update September 12, 2008:
Not all adoptions start out as an immediate success. In the case of Pearl, her foster to adopt mom was concerned because Pearl seemed exceptionally moody and often refused to eat. Before making any final decisions, however, it was decided that she would wait to see if spaying had any effect on Pearl’s behavior. Well, during her spay, the vet discovered that poor Pearl had three cysts, one the size of an orange and two the size of ping pong balls. Had one of these cysts ruptured, Pearl would have died. Spaying is always a good idea, but in her case it was a life saver.
Now, fully recovered from her spay, Pearl is a new dog. Her appetite is back (the cyst was probably pressing on her stomach) and she is the most consistently loving girl that any family could want. Pearl has found her forever home.
