Description: I just wanna be your teddy bear! Like the bear in the old Elvis song, our Teddy is just looking for a little love. And when you are as sweet natured and well behaved as this guy, you won’t have to look for long. Teddy is a gorgeous, registered, purebred collie who is healthy, happy and housebroken. He is very social and thoroughly easy-going. He gets along well with the other dogs at his foster home and is cheerful and friendly with all the humans that he meets. Even though he is a large, young, energetic guy, he is still very gentle with children, including those as young as three years. Teddy is a big boy, but even at 75 pounds he could stand to gain a little weight. He is a slow eater and likes to nibble at his kibble. He rides well in the car and is learning to walk on a leash. In his previous home he was tied outside all the time, and now when his leash is put on he pulls away, fearing that he will be tied out again. Once he realizes that this isn’t going to happen, he settles down and walks pretty well. Teddy will bark during play, but in general he is a quiet collie. Teddy was surrendered to MWCR because he was trying to chase and kill chickens, so his forever home should not include any poultry that doesn’t come from Colonel Sanders. His foster home has horses and Teddy will bark at them and try to herd them. He loves to play with the other dogs and is very easy going with them. We don’t know how he will behave with cats or other small animals. Teddy is a very loving guy who, if given a chance, would love to be a lap dog. In the right setting, he wouldn’t require a fenced yard, but he does need lots of exercise to work off his “puppy” energy. He would love to have children or another dog to play with or an adult who will give him a good workout. Our affectionate Teddy Bear will fit into almost any loving home. And don’t worry: if you leave him alone for a few hours, he won’t chew up your blue, suede shoes.
