Hello fellow collie lovers!

This is Allie, and I just wanted to let you know how I’m doing since I was adopted. I have been with my forever family for four months now, and what a lifestyle change for me! I have my own bed, my own food bowl, my own back yard and best of all, my own family. I spend my days napping while mom and dad are at work but when they get home – watch out! I have lots of energy and I can’t wait to get outside and see my friend Ruko. He’s a golden retriever, but really cute. Sometimes my mom lets him come over to play in my yard, but other times we just run along the fence together.

There is a cat here called Homi. Homi doesn’t like me much and is always running from me. I used to be able to catch her, but the family got rid of the carpeting and now the wood floors are too slippery for me – bummer.

My mom takes me to Obedience Class and says that it will make me a perfect little lady, but I only like to go because it means I will be getting lots of great treats during the class. Hot dog pieces are my favorite.

On Saturdays these cute little kids stop by. I get really excited and sometimes I accidentally knock them down (but only once because mom is right there to correct me). The littlest one gives me lots of hugs and kisses (which I like) and shares her snacks with me (which I LOVE). Don’t tell mom.

I truly love my forever family and I want to pawsonally thank MWCR for bringing us together.

Description: Today she looks like a happy, plush, teddy bear without a care in the world, but just a few short weeks ago she was a frightened, confused stray who didn’t even know how to eat from a bowl. Allie was found wandering on a reservation near Duluth and was taken in by a shelter. Later she came to an MWCR foster home where her transformation began.

The simplest aspects of home life were foreign to Allie: she had never climbed stairs, ridden in a car, walked on a leash, or slept on her own soft bed. She had never known love and kindness. But this little girl learns quickly. Just weeks after her arrival, Allie is racing up and down the stairs, leaping into the car for a ride, and soaking up the affection lavished on her by her foster family. No one had to teach Allie how to give love – that came naturally. She is very affectionate with everyone she meets and gets along beautifully with adults, children, other dogs and cats. She loves to give kisses and even likes to kiss the cat!

Allie is fully housetrained and will scratch at the door when she wants to be let outside. She rarely barks and is comfortable outdoors, though a fenced yard is advisable, since she was originally a stray. She is well behaved in the house, but because she is still a puppy, she must be given lots of chew toys; shoes and socks should be kept out of her reach.

Allie is currently being treated for Lyme Disease, and takes her medication readily. Once she has completed her treatment, she will be spayed and should have no on-going medical problems. Allie is working on gaining a little weight, and though she eats well, she is not a chow hound.

Allie’s ideal home should include either children or another dog for her to play with. She may be a little shy when she initially meets someone, but she warms up quickly and is a very affectionate girl. She is looking for a loving family that will continue to teach her all about the joys of living in a home and being loved. She has come a long way and is ready to continue her journey with her own, forever family.
