Description:
Ben is looking for a buddy or two. At 18 months old, he is fun-loving, active and ready to play. Because he is both strong and energetic, he sometimes plays too roughly for some other dogs and needs to be supervised while he learns appropriate doggy manners. His foster family has three children under the age of five and Ben loves them. Again, he plays with abandon, and should not be with children who would be frightened by his rough and tumble style. He seems to love everyone and everything he meets, but until he learns calmer manners, he probably shouldn’t be around small animals.
Ben is housetrained and his foster family is comfortable giving him the run of the house for extended periods of time. Of course, he is still young and they are careful not to leave anything too valuable or too tempting within his reach. (He particularly likes removing the towels from the towel bars.) He is extremely smart and is also food motivated, so with a little time and effort, Ben could learn just about anything. He would definitely shine in an obedience course, which would also be a great way to bond with his new family.
Ben walks well on a leash and would make a great jogging partner. He has lots of energy and will need either a fenced yard or someone who will take him for a daily walk, run or trip to the dog park. He seems to like water and would probably also enjoy the opportunity for a swim. Ben is very tolerant of grooming, rides well in the car (as long as he can ride “shotgun”) and is not particularly vocal.
But Ben is more than just the “Energizer Collie.” After a day of fun and play, he is always ready to curl up on the couch, snuggle with his people and soak up the love. If you are looking for a cuddling, playing, jogging, fun-loving boy, Ben is the one.
