Description:
Bright as a new coin and sweet as taffy, that’s the perfect description for Candy and her loving sister Penny. These two girls came to MWCR when their elderly owner died. Her last wish was that her two beloved collies find a forever home together, and MWCR has committed to seeing that that wish comes true. Candy and Penny love and depend upon one another, and they must be placed together.
Candy, the tri-colored collie, is the more outgoing of the two girls and though they are the same age, she acts like a big sister to Penny. This means that she not only looks out for Penny, but like many sisters, she is also a bit bossy with her. At meal time she wants to eat her sister’s food as well as her own, so the girls’ foster mom always feeds them separately.
Candy loves people and other dogs, and she also gets along well with the three cats at her foster home. She has been exposed to older children (eight years or more) and does well with them. She is very affectionate and loves to give kisses. She is particularly fond of feet and likes to give the bare feet in her foster home a good cleaning.
Candy is a very good girl who is fully housetrained, enjoys brushing and rides well in the car. She knows her name and understands the commands “sit” and “off.” She is smart and eager to please, and like any young dog, she would benefit from additional obedience training. Candy is slightly more talkative than her sister, but she is not an excessive barker. She has never been crated, but has been left loose at her foster home without supervision for up to four hours. She has good recall and loves to play with her toys, particularly her squeaky duck.
Candy is a complete sweetheart who has made it her mission to look out for her slightly shy little sister. The two girls are devoted to one another and to the humans in their lives. When outdoors, they always stay close to their human companions and probably won’t need a fenced yard as long as their family is near. They would do well with older children, other dogs and even cats. These two girls not only bring joy to one another, they will provide a lifetime of love and happiness to the family that opens their home and hearts to this devoted pair.
