| Description:
If you have any cats who are sweet sixteen (or any age, really) and never been kissed, then Dobie is ready and willing to change all that. Dobie loves everyone, but he particularly likes to lavish the kitties at his foster home with big, wet, puppy kisses. Oddly enough, the cats don’t entirely enjoy Dobie’s enthusiastic displays of affection, though they aren’t afraid of him and seem to understand that his actions are well meant, though a bit moist. Clearly, where cats are concerned, Dobie is one Collie who can't hold his licker!
Dobie doesn’t limit his lovin’ to just felines, however. He is full of affection for everyone and at bedtime, just before his foster mom is about to turn off the lights, he comes to her for a goodnight pet and kiss on the nose before turning in on his doggie bed. His original owner says that he is also very loving with children, though toddlers might be intimidated by his size and energy level. He has a great time with the other dogs at his foster home and loves to run and play and join in whatever games they are enjoying. Dobie is just one, big, happy-go-lucky, bundle of fun. He came to MWCR when his original owner needed major surgery and could no longer care for a young, active dog. He was much loved by his owner and has obviously been well cared for. He is friendly and easy going, healthy, fully house trained and crate trained, and just an all around sweet guy. He knows his name and will sit on command, but he needs more work on his recall. He has the playful curiosity of a puppy and will definitely need a fenced yard to prevent him from wandering off in search of adventure. He is a chatty dog and is more than ready to chime in when the other dogs are barking, but when foster mom says “no,” he listens. He enjoys being brushed and likes to go for car rides. He walks nicely on his leash and harness, with no pulling or barking. Dobie is an all around, delightful boy who will make a wonderful companion for almost any family that has sufficient time to spend with an active, young dog. He is a smart guy who would really enjoy going to obedience classes with his new family so that he could bond and learn proper 'petiquette'. He would love to have at least one other playful dog to romp with and will need a fenced yard where he can run, play and work off some of that puppy energy. He would be great with children beyond the toddler stage (age 5+), who would snuggle and play with him. A home that included cats would be an added bonus, particularly if they are the kind that doesn’t mind public displays of affection. |
