Description: Sometimes it just doesn’t pay to be too smooth with the ladies. In his former home, Harley got several of the resident girl dogs “in a family way” and was rewarded by being locked in the barn 24/7. Poor Harley was just doing what came naturally, and being banished to the barn took all the spark out of him. When he arrived at his foster home, he was matted from head to toe; had red, swollen eyes; and was thoroughly depressed.

Harley’s foster mom spent two days grooming him and he was a complete angel throughout. A thorough check up at the vet found that he had conjunctivitis and an ear infection, both of which are clearing up nicely. The vet believes that Harley was allergic to the dust and hay in the barn, and that is what caused his problems. No more barn life for Harley!

Harley is a very loving, laid back boy who gets along with everyone: adults, kids, cats and other dogs. He is quite the couch potato and though he likes the other dogs, he doesn’t have much interest in playing with them. His greatest joy is spending time with the little girl (five years old) at his foster home. He loves to lie in her room, just watching her play. Harley would make a wonderful companion for a young child as he is calm and extremely gentle.

At 80 pounds, Harley is a big boy, but the vet says that he could even afford to put on a few more pounds. He has shown no food aggression with the other dogs and would be fine in a multi dog household, though he would not be a good companion for a very active, playful dog. He has a fence at his foster home, but his forever home would not need a fenced yard as long as he was on a lead or supervised while outdoors.

Harley is looking for a forever home that will ideally include one or more young, gentle children, since he has a particular love for the little ones and is very gentle with them. His playboy days are behind him since his neuter, so he would be fine with another low key dog. One thing his forever home must not have, however, is a barn!
