Description:
Isabella is just a big teddy bear of a collie. This happy girl greets everyone she meets with a smiling face and a wagging tail, so if you’re looking for a ferocious guard dog, keep looking! Izzy loves to be petted and to get her tummy rubbed. She gets along well with children and other dogs, and she is learning to co-exist peacefully with the felines at her foster home. Initially she thought it was her responsibility to act as the kitties’ personal trainer and chase them around the house, but having been told “no” by her foster mom and “NO!!!!!” by the kitties, she is learning to ignore them. In her previous life, Izzy was attacked by another dog, so she is cautious when meeting new canines, but once she feels safe, she warms right up.
Izzy is fully housetrained and trustworthy. Her foster family gives her full run of the house while they are at work, and she has never betrayed their trust. She knows “sit,” “lie down,” “come,” “stay” and “no.” She loves to go for walks and keeps up a brisk pace, but doesn’t pull on the leash or get distracted by passing cars, bikes, etc. She has shown no food aggression or toy hoarding, and actually isn’t particularly interested in toys. She also behaved well at the groomers.
Izzy is a happy, well behaved girl who loves attention and really enjoys lying in her yard and watching the world go by. She enjoys having her silky soft coat brushed, mostly because she loves the attention. She gets excited when meeting new people and sometimes will jump up when her enthusiasm carries her away, but she is learning that jumping is not the best way to show her love. When she is at home, she is a quiet, calm lady who only shows her rough and tumble side with an occasional burp!
This happy-go-lucky girl would be the perfect addition to almost any family. She likes a brisk walk, but is calm and relaxed in the house. She would be happy as an only dog or would get along fine with another easy-going canine, once properly introduced. She is good with children, though she would probably prefer older kids who would give her tummy rubs and lavish her with attention. No matter what you call her – Isabella, Izzy, Bella – is ready to make some forever family complete.
