Post-Adoption Update: October 19, 2009
When Max and Jasmine left for their forever home, they were already a loving pair of collies who were thoroughly devoted to one another. However, because Max was a “larger than life” boy who weighed in at a hefty 100 pounds, he couldn’t really keep pace with the svelte, fun loving Jasmine. Fortunately for these two friends, they went to the perfect forever home.
Max’s new mom discovered that he suffered from hypothyroidism and now has him on medication. The combination of medicine, exercise and a loving mom who supplements his dog food with some dog-healthy, home cooking has resulted in a 13 pound weight loss for Max. He and Jasmine have three fenced acres to play in and now that there is less of him, Max is much more willing and able to frolic with his best friend.
In addition to her more active buddy, Jasmine also plays with her many toys and the agility equipment at her new home. She particularly loves to play in the tunnel and after running through it, she sometimes turns around and runs back the way she came. Although this wouldn’t work in agility competition, it sure is fun!
Both Jasmine and Max spend lots of time enjoying their fenced acres, but at the end of the day, the thing they love most is cuddling with their new mom. They love being with her and being together. This is the perfect happy ending for everyone.
Description:
Jasmine is a big, happy, playful girl who came to MWCR with her brother Max when their family had to move and couldn’t take the collies along. She is very affectionate and will let you know when she wants your attention by giving a few excited barks. She will also bark when greeting strangers at the door, but does not jump up and is not in the least aggressive. Her barking is just her way of welcoming anyone who comes to the house.
Jasmine is fully housetrained and can be left loose in the house when her foster family is out. She is not destructive, but if any tasty treats are left on the counter, they will probably be gone when you return. She is too much of a lady to “beg” during meals however. She knows several commands including “come,” “sit,” “shake” and “stay.” She loves going for walks and behaves well on her leash. She also rides well in the car. Jasmine is quite the princess and likes to be brushed and kept looking pretty.
One of Jasmine’s favorite things is playing fetch with her toys. She also likes to play tug and to roughhouse with the other dog at her foster home. She has lived in peaceful coexistence with cats and likes children. She has a fairly strong herding instinct, however, and will sometimes give people small, herding nips during play. These nips don’t really hurt, but might frighten young children, so Jasmine would probably do best with older kids. If allowed off leash, she will try to chase anything on wheels: bikes, cars, trucks, etc, so she will probably need a fenced yard.
Although playful, Jasmine also enjoys quiet times when she can cuddle up with her people and her best friend Max. Jasmine and Max are devoted to one another and want to spend the rest of their lives together. Of all the dogs in the world, Max is THE ONE for Jasmine. Are you THE ONE for Jasmine and Max?
