Description: What a sweet-natured, gentle girl this is! From the moment she arrived at her foster home, she was calm and well behaved. She was friendly with the resident dogs, though initially a bit shy, and would simply walk away if they got too excited and boisterous. Within a day or two Natalie began to quietly seek out her foster mom with a wagging tail and a plea for affection.

Natalie came to MWCR with her sister Loretta from a sanctuary in Nebraska where they had lived since 2004. They were originally surrendered by their owners because they were accused of killing chickens. There was even a suggestion that they had killed a cat. However, given Natalie’s gentle manner, it is highly probable that her days of chicken killing are far behind her, and when introduced to some cats at the home of a friend, she showed no interest at all.

Natalie is fully housetrained and house safe. She would be fine if left alone for extended periods and there is no need to crate her. She patiently allows her foster mom to brush her, although she doesn’t particularly enjoy it. When she has had enough, she simply walks away. She walks well on a leash and rides well in the car. She knows her name and will sit on command. Natalie rarely barks and usually is happy to quietly explore her yard; though once, when one of the resident dogs began to drive some birds from the yard, Natalie joyfully joined in the chase.

Natalie needs to lose a few pounds and her foster mom is encouraging her to get more exercise. Once she gets down to a more appropriate weight, she will probably be more active, though she will always be a laidback collie.

Natalie likes the older children that she has met and is very sweet and gentle with them. She would probably be fine with young children as well, but highly active, noisy children might be too much for this low key girl. She is also good with other dogs as long as they aren’t too exuberant. If they begin to get out of hand, Natalie turns away.

Natalie is looking for a quiet, forever home that will appreciate her gentle, refined ways. She would be fine as an only dog or with another easy going, canine companion. She doesn’t need a fenced yard, since her idea of a wild outing is a good roll in the grass! This sweet lady asks nothing more than a warm home and a caring family who will return her abundant love.
