Description:
Bright as a new coin and sweet as taffy, that’s the perfect description for Penny and her devoted sister Candy. These two girls came to MWCR when their elderly owner died. Her last wish was that her two beloved collies find a forever home together, and MWCR has committed to seeing that that wish comes true. Penny and Candy love and depend upon one another, and they must be placed together.
Penny is the shyer of the two girls and when she initially arrived at her foster home, she did lots of pacing. It took over a week for her to begin to relax and show her sweet and loving personality. She will now come to her foster mom seeking affection and petting, though she is still somewhat unsure of herself. Penny is less playful than her sister and prefers to cuddle up on her doggie bed and watch the world go by.
Like her sister, Penny gets along well with other dogs, older children and cats. Because she is timid, she would not do well with loud, boisterous children of any age. She is wary around strangers and tends to stand back and observe. Even when she is nervous, however, her fear has never translated into any kind of aggression – she is just a shy, sensitive girl.
Penny knows her name and knows the “sit” and “off” command. Obedience training would be a great way for her to develop self confidence and social skills as well as learn additional behaviors. She is fully housetrained and loves to be brushed, particularly around her rear end. She is extremely quiet and her foster mom has rarely heard her bark.
Penny is a very loving girl who will need a family that will be patient with her while she learns to be comfortable in her new surroundings. She is a gentle, submissive soul and depends upon her more outgoing sister for guidance, but once she feels comfortable her laidback, affectionate nature shines through. She always wants to be near her people and loves to sleep by her foster mom’s bed. Penny and Candy are already bonded to one another and are now looking for a loving family that they can devote themselves to.
