Description: Wanted: A family that really wants me!

I’m not your ordinary collie. I’m rambunctious and energetic, a bit impish yet sweet. I’m quite small (compared to my oafish sized brethren), and very lean, yet have a huge heart. I can run faster, corner quicker, and leap farther and higher than any collies I’ve met so far! (I’ve heard about a game called ‘agility’; I think I’d love to do that!)

I’m not a couch-potato (at least not yet, though that might happen later in life), so laying around all day waiting for someone to come home isn’t my thing.

I have very good hearing, and exceptional tone to my bark (which apparently isn’t always appreciated by the master, but I do temper my voice when commanded to ‘quiet’). The place I live now is kind of busy, so there seems to always be a person walking a dog past the house, or someone bicycling or jogging nearby, etc. If there were less to have to bark at I’d probably bark less!

I am loyal to my human, and follow him whenever and wherever allowed. I would even sit at his feet to protect him always, if only that space weren’t already taken by a female collie who must have been in the home first. (She has made it clear that my assistance in guarding our master is not welcome. Curmudgeon!)

I’m only two, and am still rather puppyish in my behavior. I love to play, but I also like to learn. When I can figure out what the humans want, I try to obey with enthusiasm. For instance, when we are told to “go inside” I am always the first to run to the door! If someone had time to work with me, I bet we could learn a lot together.

I live with two other collies now, and two cats, along with the Mr. and Mrs. and their four older kids. I’m OK with all that. Younger kids might not be as OK: when I bark and they act frightened, I always get blamed.

As I said, I’m not your ordinary collie. But I know that somewhere out there is the perfect family that needs a collie just like me. If you are that family, please have your people talk to my people. We just might have a rich future together waiting to happen!
