Description: Willow is the first of the Glencoe collies to become available for adoption! At only 9 months old and 40 pounds, she is a happy, playful, typical collie pup. She has beautiful, blue merle coloring and a loving, sweet tempered manner.

Willow is an eager to please girl who is already crate trained and will obediently go into her kennel to sleep or when her foster mom needs to be gone for awhile. Because she is still a puppy at heart, she is highly curious and loves to chew. She is still learning what is and what is not appropriate to chew on, so she needs to be supervised.

Willow loves other dogs and gets along well with them when she visits the dog park. She is also good with cats, though one of the cats at her foster home likes to tease her, and Willow responds by barking at the cat. She also likes children but would do best with kids over the age of eight, since her playful exuberance might be too much for younger children. During playtime, Willow gets excited and will nip or mouth, and this might frighten little ones.

Willow is initially a bit shy with strangers, particularly men, but she quickly warms up. She enjoys making new friends at the dog park and is eager to experience all that life has to offer. She loves a good game of fetch, and if her foster mom is too busy to throw the ball for her, Willow will happily toss and retrieve it herself.

Willow walks well on a leash and is quite tolerant of grooming. She is okay with short car rides, but longer car trips make her car sick. She knows several commands including “come,” “sit” and “kennel.” She is a clever girl and would love to find a family that will help her learn all the things a young dog needs to know to become a well mannered canine citizen. She is at the age when everything is new and interesting, and she is more than ready to explore.

Willow is a loving pup who is full of energy and eager to learn about the world around her. She is looking for an active family who will make her part of their activities. Ideally, she will need a home where someone will be around at least part of the day, so she can get the attention and exercise that a young dog needs. A fenced yard would be a great place for her to work off some of that puppy energy, but with the right supervision and bonding, it might not be mandatory. She would love to have another active dog to play with or older children who would play fetch with her. Willow has a lifetime of love and loyalty to give to her new, forever family
