Description: Who is that masked collie? It’s Zorro, stealer of slippers, socks, treats and everyone’s heart. This adorable little guy left his collie mom at about four months and when he arrived at his foster home, the resident cat greeted him with a snarl and a hiss! Poor Zorro, obviously used to being greeted with joyous enthusiasm, did the only thing a brave, handsome, collie-of-the-world could do: he piddled on the floor. It was an inauspicious beginning, but Zorro settled right in and soon even the cat was willing to accept him.

But Zorro was just getting used to his foster home when his forever family came and snapped him up. He has already charmed everyone there including the resident dog, a five year old who is more than willing to be friends but is a little intimidated by Zorro’s puppy exuberance.

Zorro is a smart, happy boy who is learning how to walk on a leash. Initially he wanted to pull and chase and explore everything in sight, but by using a pocketful of treats as incentive, mom was able to quickly teach him to ignore other dogs when they passed by and to sit before crossing the street. She also plans to take him to an obedience class this summer and Zorro is looking forward to showing what a smart collie he is.

Zorro loves to hang out in the daughter’s room where there is lots of interesting stuff right down at puppy level. He also enjoys jumping up on her bed and making himself at home. Although he tolerated his crate at his foster mom’s house, now that he is in his forever home, Zorro has decided that it is unjust to put him there when the older dog is allowed to run free. It will be interesting to see who wins this battle of wills.

Zorro’s forever family gave some thought to changing his name, but the speed with which this masked collie stole everyone’s heart, made it obvious that he already had the perfect name.
