Description:
If you have always wanted a collie, but were hoping for something a little smaller, Champ may be the perfect dog for you. When he came to MWCR, Champ was described as a “collie mix” but he hadn’t been with us long before we realized that he is close to all sheltie. This adorable little guy is 10 months old and currently about 25 pounds, and he probably won’t get much larger.
Champ is a happy, healthy, energetic, little bundle of fun who loves to run and play. His quick mind and even quicker feet make him a great candidate for someone to help him with agility, flyball, or Frisbee activities.
He is a well behaved boy who is fully housetrained and can be trusted when left alone in the house. He is also crate trained and initially was crated at night before his foster family found that they he would be fine in the house couldn’t resist his sweet face at night. He knows a variety of commands including “sit,” “down,” “drop it,” “leave it,” “come” and “quiet.” He is extremely smart and loves to learn new things. He is working on his leash skills though his puppy enthusiasm does cause him to pull. He does best in a Martingale collar.
Champ loves everyone he meets and is curious and friendly with strangers. His foster home does not include children, but foster mom is confident that this easy going, loving boy would be fine with children and he will make a good family pet. He is playful and gets along well with other dogs. He has not been exposed to cats, but because of his herding instinct, Champ might not do well with kitties.
Champ is looking for a forever home where he can have a fenced yard and perhaps another energetic dog or active human to help him burn off all that puppy energy. This happy, happy boy will bring his new family a lifetime of fun and joy.
