Description:
Hunny is a very special girl looking for an equally special home.
Hunny came to us from a puppy mill situation and is just now learning about all the things a dog should know. She was initially frightened of almost everything and everyone, but today she has learned to trust her foster family and though she is still shy around new people, she is no longer afraid of them. She likes other dogs and is always willing to share her food or toys with her fellow canines. She would be equally agreeable to sharing her treats, but poor Hunny is just learning what a treat is!
Hunny is gradually exploring and investigating her environment. She loves to check out every nook and cranny in her foster home and does not react to vacuum cleaners or lawn mowers. She is indifferent to the squirrels that she sees and this makes her foster mom think that she would not chase or harass kitties, though her foster home is without any “test cats” to confirm this. She has learned to walk on a leash but so far she is only comfortable doing this in the safety of her yard. She is learning about housetraining and when she is crated at night, she keeps her kennel clean. First thing in the morning she is promptly taken outside so she can do her business. This method, combined with the example that the other dogs set for her, is helping Hunny to understand what is expected of her.
Hunny is a gentle, loving little girl who is just discovering what it means to be a dog and not a puppy making machine. For the first time in her young life she is clean, flea-free and living in a home with people who love and care for her. She and her fellow canines are allowed to run and play and just be dogs. What bliss!
Although Hunny has come a long way since leaving the puppy mill, she is still learning and is looking for a forever home that will be patient with her and help her meet the challenges of her new life. She will need a quiet, adult home with a fenced yard to help her feel safe. It would be ideal if she also had another, easy going, doggie friend to show her the ropes and increase her comfort level. Dogs like Hunny have not known the love and day-to-day joys that come with being part of a family. They require a little extra time and attention, but the rewards are extraordinary!
