Description:
You can tell by her name that this girl was loved by her former family. She obviously ruled the hearts of the older couple who owned her, but when they both developed serious health issues, they decided that a young dog like Queenie needed a family that could give her more time and energy. They contacted MWCR and reluctantly surrendered her so that she could find a more suitable home.
Although The Queen was raised as an only dog, she plays well with the other dog at her foster home. Of course she believes that all the toys belong to her, but she is gracious enough to let the resident dog play with them. She has not been exposed to cats or children at her foster home, but her foster mom believes that she would do well with kids of almost any age.
The Queen is a tall, delicately built girl who is fully housetrained and even knows how to ring a bell when she needs to go outside. She was trained to do this by her former family, but since her foster mom doesn’t have a bell for her, she may need a refresher course. She is extremely well behaved in the house, knows several commands and rides well in the car. She is not an excessive barker, though she does like to warn you when someone (human or animal) is outside. She needs some work with her leash-walking skills, since she is easily distracted, but she definitely does better when using a gentle leader collar.
Queenie is a lovely girl both inside and out. She is sweet, gentle and loving, though she can be somewhat shy when meeting new people. She warms up quickly, however, and once she knows a person, she is confident they will want to pet and love her. Even though she is still a puppy, she is extremely mellow and relaxed, seeking attention without being pushy or demanding.
The Queen will fit beautifully into almost any home. She is fine with other dogs, but would also do well as an “only” dog. She would almost certainly be good with gentle, respectful children. A fenced yard is a necessity, since she does not have good recall. So, if your heart and your home are in need of a gorgeous, elegant and benevolent monarch, look no further than The Queen.
