New to Rescue!

Poor Scottie has been through a lot!  He came to MWCR from a shelter in Eau Claire where he was turned in as a stray.  The shelter estimated his age to be 10, but his foster mom thinks that he is younger and just looks older due to his health issues.  Scottie is underweight at 55 pounds, has been partially shaved to free him from mats and burrs, is currently receiving antibiotics for Lyme disease and has tested positive for heart worm.  But in spite of everything, Scottie continues to be an extremely sweet and loving boy.

Scottie gets along well with the other six collies at his foster home and is not at all dominant.  He likes to "talk" to his foster mom, and lets her know when he needs to go outside or when the other collies are pestering him.  Initially he will shy away from strangers, but he craves affection and will stand for hours while being petted or groomed.  After only a week at his foster home, he is already becoming more trusting and playful, and he likes to play-bow and roll over for tummy rubs.

Scottie has several weeks of heart worm treatment ahead of him, but he is working hard on regaining his health, so he will be ready for his forever family.  Check back for updates and to see when Scottie will be ready for adoption.

Scottie is being fostered in Esko, MN (near Duluth).

So far $890 has been spent on Scottie’s medical treatments.
