As Loretta settles into her foster home she is becoming more comfortable with tile floors and stairs, though she is still a bit cautious. Her weight loss program is getting some assistance from other collies. Another MWCR member came by with her collies, including a young puppy, and Loretta absolutely loved playing with them. She enjoyed playing “chase” even though she had a bit of trouble keeping up with her more “fit” friends. It is obvious that once she loses a few pounds she will really enjoy romping with another dog.

Loretta’s foster family is spending the summer at the lake and Loretta loves to cool off by paddling around in the tummy-deep water. She also enjoys rolling in the grass and generally relishing the warm summer weather.

Loretta is an exceptionally sweet and loving girl, who particularly loves men and small children. She is calm and doesn’t bark much. When she wants petting and attention, she will simply lean into the nearest human as if to say, “Here I am!” She is well behaved in the house, never jumping up on the furniture and is fully housetrained. Her foster mom says she has an amazing ability to “wait” between calls of nature.

Loretta is a very special collie who will make a wonderful companion to virtually anyone, since she gets along with men, women, children, dogs and cats. Her low key, gentle nature would make her a natural for a therapy dog. Her ideal forever family needs only one thing: love.

Description: Loretta is a beautiful, sweet-natured, gentle girl. She is calm and sedate and loves small children.  She is fine around other dogs and cats, too.  She is very well-behaved in the house, and she likes nothing better than to lie near her people and relax.   She is reluctant to climb very many stairs or to walk on uncarpeted, slick floors, but she loves to go for walks and check out her new world.  Her favorite outdoor thing is rolling in the grass.  Loretta needs to lose about 10 pounds, and after she does she will feel more energetic.   She’s a lovely girl who would like to find a new home with loving people and maybe some kids to love, too.
