The Story of Spokes-Collie Daisy!

December 1999 - Daisy came from a shelter at about one year old.  She was terrified, had been abused and nearly starved to death by her owners.  She weighed 27 lbs. when the shelter took her in which was about half the weight that she should have been at that age.

Minnesota Collie Rescue - the pre-cursor to the current MWCR - was called and referred Daisy to a lady who wound up adopting Daisy.  Because Daisy was so abused, she was scared of everything that was new and bonded very closely with her new owner who showed her that the world is a good place.  Daisy took it to heart and believes that the world is a good place, but ONLY if her owner is with her!   She is fine in her house when her owner goes to work, but she needs her mom with her when she is in public in order to feel safe.  Silly girl!

Daisy became a therapy dog visiting nursing homes and hospitals and has been a "spokes-Collie" at many MWCR booth events over the years.  She LOVES attention and to be called pretty.  Daisy was chosen to be on a greeting card to support animal adoptions by a company called "Paws in Print. "   Daisy lives with several cats and several adopted Collie siblings - Persy, Tasha and a mix named Princess.
