Interview with Kellie – This Week's Featured Collie!

Questions Answers
What is your favorite treat? Just about anything. Chew treats are great, soft chewy treats even better.  But I like veggies and dip too!  If you're eating it, I want to try it.
How do you feel about toys? Can take them or leave them.  Usually leave them.
Rate the following areas as the best for a good scratch by your foster humans: (Rating from one to four "paws") Behind ears? Definitely
Belly? – Again,
Under chin? – This one's a !!!
Big fluffy rear end? – My rear isn't fluffy, I'm a smoothie.  And it's kinda boney but I love being scratched anywhere except my feet.  I HATE mani-pedi's! Oh, and I like to scratch my face against mom's jeans by putting my head between her legs and slowing walking through rubbing against the fabric.  My eyes get full of matter sometimes (mom thinks it might be allergies…she has some ointment she puts in them when they get bad) so an occasional scratch and snuggle to my head is very welcome.  I love to come up to mom, put my nose toward her face and have her hug my head and talk to me.
What are your 'pet' peeves? Those manicures are pure torture!
I also don't like being shoved out of mom's scratching fingers by another collie, but I'll usually just go away quietly and come back when she's alone and all mine!!
Would you rather - go for a walk with my human?
Play chase with some doggie friends?
Nap on the couch, rug or dog bed?
Other?
I choose the nap, fer sure!   I do enjoy exploring my fenced-in yard but my eyesight isn't the best so new places can be a little scary sometimes.   As for napping, I prefer the couch or doggie bed but a carpeted floor will also do just fine.

I also like to walk around the yard while mom fills the birdfeeders. I usually don't go very far so she lets me wander without a leash.  But sometimes I'm feeling frisky and go exploring...I went down by the river once and I could actually hear the fear in mom's voice when she was calling my name.  So I popped up from the riverside (funny, she says we live on riverside drive) and came trotting back to mom as quickly as I could.  Boy did I get petted and scratched then!  I was found as a stray so I'm used to being on my own and sometimes I can be too independent. But it sure is nice to have a warm home, fluffy beds, regular meals, occasional treats and lots of hugs, scratches and petting. I even like being combed.
If you could choose any forever family - what would they be like? Quiet, not terribly active, lots of treats and attention for me, nice cushy bed, and supportive of me during storms but respectful of my space when I'm not in the mood.

And there you have it, folks, straight from the dog’s mouth.
