Shayna Leia Fineman, MWCR member and foster caregiver, died on September 23, 2008, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Shayna became a member of MWCR early in the summer of 2008, and although she was with us for only a short time she left indelible memories. Shayna loved Collies, having had five wonderful Collies over the years. Her Collies were known as the Finedawg Family and included Sugar Bear, Cassie, Mooshi, Shmoo, and her most recent Collie, Tovi. Shayna exchanged e-mails and phone calls with several MWCR members, each of whom remembers her sense of humor, the joy and pleasure she took in writing about Collies, and the creativity and wittiness of her letters and calls. She was a person who connected immediately with us and made us feel as though we had known her for ages. Shayna made beautiful jewelry, and said immediately that she wanted to donate some of her jewelry to MWCR to use as fundraisers for the Collies. When Shayna died, she left a note directing that her jewelry be given to MWCR for that purpose. Shayna’s estate is now settled, and when we receive the jewelry, we will use it for fundraising, as Shayna intended. Shayna’s ashes, and those of her Collies, have been shipped to MWCR, and a suitable memorial to her and her Collies will be scheduled at Joni Lindberg’s home near Esko MN in the summer of 2010. Although she left us much too soon, we will remember Shayna always. |
