Surrendering a Collie to MWCRIf you have a Collie that you need to surrender, please call us at 612-869-0480. You will be asked to provide basic information about your Collie, such as age, health history, likes, dislikes and fears. Please be aware that Minnesota Wisconsin Collie Rescue cannot accept any dog with a bite history. Please be as complete as possible when giving information about your dog. The more we know, the better we are able to match the dog with a new owner. After we have taken the basic information and approved the dog for intake, we will attempt to find a foster home for the dog. We will contact you to set up a time to meet the dog and take it into rescue. You may be asked to drive to meet the intake volunteer. We require a minimum $40.00 surrender fee to help defray the cost of veterinary care, grooming, and maintenance. You are required to fill out and sign an "Owner Surrender Form" and provide us with copies of all veterinary records. It also helps the dog with the transition to send along food bowls, dog beds, favorite toys, etc. If you would like updates about your dog, we can arrange it with the foster home. Your dog will stay in foster care a minimum of 14 days. During this time, the dog will have a thorough veterinary examination, receive any necessary vaccinations, and will be spayed or neutered, if needed. The foster home will get to know the dog and it's personality. We then review our applications and select a home that is right for your dog. If no applicant is currently available, we will list the Collie on our website. All of our approved adopters have completed an applications and home visit. Please be assured that we only adopt dogs to owners who will keep the Collie as an indoor pet who is part of the family. For more information, send an e-mail to: collietalk@yahoo.com |
